INSTALLING QUIETBARRIER™ OR ECONOBARRIER™ ON DRYWALL

Installing QuietBarrier and EconoBarrier
Tools and Materials needed: Gloves, Eye Protection, Utility Knife, Straight Edge, Roller Kit, and Caulk Gun
Our Recommended Sealant: Acoustical Sound Sealant
Our Recommended Adhesive: Power Grab Adhesive™

Wear gloves and eye protection. Edges of QUIETBARRIER and ECONOBARRIER are sharp and can give "paper cuts". The term ECONOBARRIER is used in the directions but the procedure is the same for either the QUIETBARRIER or ECONOBARRIER product.

1.    Lay drywall face down on a flat, clean dry surface. (See Step 1)

2.    Lay the ECONOBARRIER on the drywall and center. Check again to see if square.(See photos 2, 3, 4, 5,and 6)

3.    Place Roller in middle of drywall and ECONOBARRIER and square it. Place step-board against Roller. (See step 7)

4.    Keeping one foot on the step-board, fold the ECONOBARRIER over the Roller and square edges. (See photos 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12)

5.    Using the recommended adhesive, run a bead around the perimeter, about 2 inches in from the edge and in the center as shown. (See photo 13 and 14)

6.    Keeping the Roller square, roll out the ECONOBARRIER to the edge of the drywall. (See photos 15, 16, and 17)

7.    Reposition the Roller and step-board in the middle of the sheet. Fold the ECONOBARRIER over the roller as before and square the edges. (See photos 18, 19, and 20)

8.    Place the adhesive in the pattern as shown. (See photo 21)

9.    Roll out the ECONOBARRIER to the end of the drywall, using the Roller to keep the product square. (See photos 22 and 23)




10.    Lay another sheet of drywall on top and repeat the process.

11.    To assure good adhesion of ECONOBARRIER to the last piece of drywall, place a 3/4 inch x 4 ft. x 8 ft. piece of plywood on top. (See photo 24)




12.    Let cure for 24 hours.

13.    Prior to installation of the drywall composite, determine the line on which the seams of the drywall will fall. Adhere our 3 inch Barrier Tape™ onto the existing wall so that the centerline of the tape falls at the same point the new drywall seam will fall. This barrier will bridge the seam and prevent noise leakage through the seam.

14.    Continue with standard drywall installation. Use Acoustical Sealant to seal all seams around the perimeter of each piece of drywall. Also seal the wall where it meets the floor, adjoining walls, and ceiling. (See photo 25)
